Love Nature

I am a sort-of pastor, a slow-learning husband, a halfway decent father, a small-time apologist, a big-time cook, a small-time fan of the LA Chargers, a big-time fan of the LA Chargers if they start winning, a small-time guitar player, a big-time fan of documentaries, a small-time writer, a big-time fan of stand-up comedy. I like to think I’m funny. Just ask my wife. I tell her several times a day!

I became a follower of Jesus when I was 19. I came through skepticism. I had no church background and thought Christianity was weird. I was right about that. What I was wrong about was that there were no grounds for belief in Jesus.

Oh, I also had a Christian band for awhile. But then I lost my hairline…

Then God brought me a wonderful, godly wife, whose dedication to Jesus has been my inspiration for a long time. Suzanne has been wonderfully devoted to God’s mission, having been a missionary in the Philippines before we married. She works tirelessly alongside me, keeping the pieces of our life together almost magically.

I was a college and missions pastor, then I started a church in Long Beach, California, which was made up of mostly college-age and post-college students. An incredible group of people!

Then God wondrously took us Mexico City, where I pastored an English-speaking international Church, Called Union Evangelical Church and Suzanne built an amazing kids ministry. Another incredible group of people!

A few years later we returned to the U.S., and ended up in the South. We planted another church and that didn’t go so well. Very long story short, we closed the doors in 2023.

So, after we closed the doors of our church, I remembered that my mom used to say I had a face–no, no, a voice for radio, so I figured I would try podcasting, since nobody would give me a shot at radio. And so, here we are, you and me, meeting over radio waves. Ironic, isn’t it? Thanks for being here. I truly hope you enjoy the show and find it helps to smooth out the grind!  — Lance and Suzanne
